Hugh Hastings Tribute page

In 1986 Hugh Hastings, the club's founder, and a group of friends started to practice Shotokai karate in Prestwick.
After much deliberation they decided to call the club "Kyle" after the district at the time. It has been called that ever since.

Unfortunately Hugh passed away at home on Christmas last year (2025). His knowledge and inventiveness will be missed
by all the club's members. He passed the future of the club over to our three 5th Dan chief instructors. It says a great deal
about Hugh's love of karate in that he was at a normal practice night, still passing on some tips, 3 days before he died.
